Reporting to the Head of Department - Health Sciences the position holder will be responsible for the following, amongst others:
- To teach in areas allocated by the Head of Department.
- Design, develop, plan and deliver a range of programmes of study, sometimes for entirely new courses at various levels.
- Deliver high-quality lectures and practicals.
- Oversee clinical practice, providing students with real-world learning experiences and guidelines in hospitals or clinical settings.
- Review course content and materials on a regular basis, updating when required.
- Collaborate with academic colleagues on course development, curriculum changes and the development of research activities.
- Carry out research and write research grant proposals.
- Seek and participate in consultancies.
- Present research papers at national or international conferences and other similar events.
- Dissemination of research outputs.
- Provide mentorship and career guidance to students and staff.
- Ensure all academic activities align with the standards of the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisors or as captured in your detailed job description;
- PhD/Doctorate in Nursing /Medical-Surgical Nursing/ General Nursing/Pediatric Nursing/Community Health/ Public Health or equivalent degree qualification in a
relevant area from a recognised/ accredited university. - Master of Science in Nursing /Medical-Surgical Nursing/ General Nursing/Pediatric Nursing/Community Health/ Public Health degree or a related area from a recognised/accredited university.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing /Medical-Surgical Nursing/ General Nursing/Pediatric Nursing/Community Health/ Public Health degree or a relevant field from a recognised/accredited University.
- At least three years of teaching/research experience at the University level as a Senior Lecturer.
- A minimum of forty-eight (48) equivalent publication points as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow of which thirty-two (32) should be from refereed journal articles.
- Supervised at least four (2) postgraduate students including (1) doctoral student to the completion
- Attracted research funds as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow
- Attended and contributed at academic conferences, seminars and workshops
- Evidence of being a member of a relevant professional body
- Evidence of leadership (administrative experience, active participation in departmental /school/university/national/international activities).
