We are seeking a forward-thinking, industry-connected, and student-centric lecturer in Pharmacy/Pharmacology. The ideal candidate has demonstrated the capability to bridge industry and academia, and their duties and responsibilities are as below:
They will be reporting to the Chairman of the Department of Health Sciences and will be responsible for the following:
- Teaching Pharmacology course units allocated by the Chair of the the Department
- Designing, developing, planning and delivering a range of programmes of study, sometimes for entirely new courses at various levels.
- Delivering high-quality lectures.
- Reviewing course content and materials on a regular basis, updating when required.
- Collaborating with academic colleagues on course development, curriculum changes and the development of research activities.
- Carrying out research and writing research grant proposals.
- Seeking and participating in consultancies.
- Presenting research papers at national or international conferences and other similar events.
- Disseminating research outputs.
- Providing mentorship and career guidance to students and staff.
- Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
- Ensuring all academic activities align with the standards of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- A minimum of a relevant PhD, master's and bachelor's degree in pharmacy, Pharmacology or related field from an accredited University.
- At least three (3) years teaching/research experience at the University level as Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- Has evidence of publications as a Lecturer/Research Fellow. Has supervised at least two (2) postgraduate students to completion.
- Attracted research funds as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- Has evidence of attending and contributing at academic conferences, seminars or workshops.
- Can demonstrate contribution to university life through active participation in departmental and school matters or meetings, students 'academic advising, and committee membership among others.
- Demonstrate potential for university teaching, research and community extension.
- Can demonstrate contribution to university life through active participation in departmental and school matters or meetings, students 'academic advising, and committee membership among others.
- Has demonstrated firm commitment to sustainability in their previous roles. Valid Pharmacy and Poisons Board Practice Licence.
- Is-up to date with industry standards and has established linkages with the industry.
